Marimba Building Package - Building Your Own Instruments

Author

Jim McCarthy is a percussionist who has been a musician for over 20 years, his passion for building things led him to build and design marimbas, although he is not a professional at woodworking or trades. After studying for his Masters degree, he began to concentrate on acoustics and learned how to build marimbas, even making some world record bass marimbas as part of his hobby. This is what led to him coming up with the total marimba building package which contains instrument building blueprints for making your own instruments.

Guides

The package include eBook guides including the simple glockenspiel building guide, the box resonated xylophone eBook plans, the two-octave mini marimba plans, the P3 3-octave marimba plans, the P524 pro concert marimba plans and the 3-octave pro vibraphone plans, and more than 3 hours of video included with the guides. The package also comes with three sheet music pieces as well as the ‘Evening by the Fire' sheet music. Other bonus offers include the Mallet making guide eBook and video and a free one month's subscription to Percussion Keys website, where you get access to video tutorial series that will teach you to play marimba and vibes and other resources.

Blueprints

The guide shows you how to build instruments from whatever kind of wood you have, as well as standard metal stock that is inexpensive and easy to get. The cost of the material for the instrument will depend on the particular instrument that you are building, and the quality that you want. All the plans have been prepared in detail, including imperial and metric measurements, and most of the skills that are required are fairly basic woodwork.

DIY

The guides are meant to help users to make their own instruments and save the amount of money it would cost to buy them ready-made. The guides include a whole range of professional mallet instruments, and the step-by-step guides will help you to make instruments that are just as good as commercial ones. The guide is also meant to assist student of percussion and their parents to get inexpensive practice instrument for use at home, and is also suitable for those who would like to get instruments for schools for classroom percussion ensembles.
