"Magic Relationship Words: 101 words, phrases and sentences to help you say it right every time" by Susie Collins and Otto Collins was published in 2009. Added to being authors, Susie and Otto Collins are relationship coaches and frequently invited to be guest speakers.
The Authors
Susie and Otto Collins make the claim that these words being proposed in their book are far easier to use than would have previously been thought. It highlights mistakes in communication which are commonly made and which are often lead to separations, divorce and overall breakups. The key is to understand that specific words can be used to diffuse or lighten situations without causing catastrophe in relationships. Having experienced different relationships, they have compiled this book of advice on relationships for people in the same situations as they had been in similar difficult situations.
The Book
Magic Relationship Words consists of 146 pages of informative reading and is downloadable as an e-book format. This motivational work was compiled based off both writers relationship programme and the idea was formulated to develop words to pull couples closer as well as building or rebuilding trust in a relationship. Added to this, the guide is intended to keep away from instances of jealousy among a variety of other relationship issues which are common.
The Positives
The work is commendable and takes into consideration that these have to be achieved over a period of time. It stresses the importance of having open mindsets in relationships, and explains in-depth how such understandings actually lead to being able to make oneself understood in the relationship while extinguishing potentially ferocious flames.
Magic Relationship Words draws on real life situations taking active steps to connect with those persons in relationships. It does this by asking key questions which, based on actual research and experience in the field, and are actual concerns raised by persons in relationships. This simply has allowed the writers the opportunity to identify the biggest problems or challenges which occur in present day relationships and hence the stress on using the "magic words". It's the methodological approach to situations which are common that make the work such an attraction as little opportunity is left for it to be placing persons in categories; instead it makes it easy for all genders to relate.
Attractive is the audio programme which would be welcomed by persons with schedules that do not allow for leisurely reading.
The Negatives
The clearest drawback to Magic Relationship Words is the fact that no evidence is these words have actually been tested. Admittedly, Susie and Otto claim that the book is based off real life relationship experiences, but some focus groups or seminars with practical sessions would most assuredly add some guarantee.
Overall, the work has an emphasis on communication to aid in understanding each other's reasoning in relationships and can be good motivation to couples. With practical sessions, it would be more attractive to persons who are having and wish to avoid relationship problems.
