    My name is Benjy Portnoy, and I put together Vegetarian Done Right.  It’s based on my own experience as a vegetarian over nearly the last six years.

    I first decided to try going vegetarian because of certain claims I had heard about.

    They were pretty powerful statements about how adopting a vegetarian diet could change my body AND the planet

    A scientific review in April’s Nutrition Reviews shows that a vegetarian diet is highly effective for weight loss. Vegetarian populations tend to be slimmer than meat-eaters, and they experience lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other life-threatening conditions linked to overweight and obesity. The new review, compiling data from 87 previous studies, shows the weight-loss effect does not depend on exercise or calorie-counting, and it occurs at a rate of approximately 1 pound per week.

    These were some pretty compelling arguments.

    So, I decided to try it.

    That's me -- Benjy!

    I thought it was going to be tough.  Honestly, I didn’t want to give up meat because I thought I would always be hungry. But I decided to give it a week or two.

    And I couldn’t believe it…it stuck — I have stayed vegetarian for SIX years!  Nothing I do has ever stuck like this.

    Why?  What has kept me 100% meat free for six whole years??

    • look better.  My clothes fit way better, and my friends keep telling me how I’m slim and trim.
    • I have more energy— I zipping through work and POUNCE with enthusiasm, all the way into the evening.
    • I barely ever get sick, and when I do, I recover FAST since my body is in a great state to begin with.
    • I have made a lot of friends who are just like me — vegetarian or at least partially so.  I feel connected to these people — so much so, that it’s changed my life.

    My friends and acquaintances began to see this major change in me.  They said I seemed like I was glowing.

    They began asking me for help on how to cut meat out of their diet.  Then more people asked.

    And what’s more, these people took that advice, and it stuck for them too.

    More and more friends were reducing the amount of meat they ate, and continuing to live and eat happily.

    I never had an intention of sharing this with the world, but too many people were benefiting and….I realized I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer….  that’s why I’m sharing it with...
