However, in a world of diabetic patients and those with glucogen intolerance, a spoon full of sugar is likely to kill them, literally. Debbie Johnson,who is the author of the book called ‘Fun with GF/ LG food'. GF and LG stand for Gluten free and Low - Glycemic free food, and she is also the owner of the restaurant, the Golden Chalice, and she laughingly says that most of her customers do not know that her meals are so healthy and are not prepared with the regular ingredients of any other restaurant. Her culinary skills were honed to perfection with more than 30 years of experience at the hotel. Some of her other books are ‘Forget willpower, Try fun family fitness with focuses imagination, Think yourself young and Think yourself there'.
About the contents of the book
This is a cookbook with the recipes written exclusively for people suffering with the diabetes or obesity. Debbie would like to say that all her recipes are completely safe for the diabetic as they do not use sugar but use other safe sweeteners instead. The author says that this is the first book of its kind as it deals with most issues and tries to create a natural alternative for the ingredients in the original recipe. She says that the ingredients which is used in the cookbook are all completely gluten free. The chapters of the book cover simple preps and starters, soups, sides, salads dressings and sauces, main dishes, delectable desserts, snacks, breads and light meals for the road. There are two appendices, appendix A an appendix B, the former contains a list of vegetables to avoid and the latter, a list of specific ingredients that one must buy.
