Dear Friend, So many people dream of having a job in music. It's their passion, something they would even do for free. But in many cases, a good job in music, if you can find it, doesn't pay very much. So, they get some other job to survive, pay bills, etc, and end up worn out, with little energy or time left for the music!  So what is the answer? How can someone make good money playing  music, with very little equipment, minimal skills, and be in total control? One of the best answers I've found is: live acoustic guitar music!  Many people don't realize that acoustic guitar music or the 'unplugged' type of entertainment  is truly one of  the FASTEST way for almost any musician to get some money flowing, and that there is a TREND happening right now that is leaning toward this type of entertainment!  Why? Because it WORKS--it's low cost for the bar / restaurants, wedding planners, etc, and lots of people are using acoustic shows as a training ground for Americal Idol, America's Got Talent, The X Factor, etc. It's one of the best ways you can prepare yourself! And there is a ton of tips on this subject in the book! Oh, and guess what...? You don't even have to be able to play guitar to participate and get your share! Really? Yep. If you play drums....all you have to do is find an acoustic guitar player that sings! If your skill is singing, but don't play an instrument, find someone that plays keyboards, or guitar... Or if you only play keyboards or guitar, and don't sing, just find a singer. All you need is one melodic instrument and someone that sings, and you can easily start making money as a duo playing at parties, weddings, bars, restaurants, and more!

So how much "music money" am I talking about? I’m talking about hundreds of dollars a week, and more. Hundreds of dollars a week, consistently? Really? Yes. And MORE! It really depends on how much you want to work! Plus, it’s a lot of fun, and you make new friends. Now that’s a cool job to have, if you ask me! OK...SHOW ME THE MONEY!Absolutely. Let's talk about what I make, right now as an acoustic entertainer. I work on average 3-4 nights a week doing acoustic shows by myself or with a drummer. My average for solo nights is about $150, and $100 when I work with a drummer.  And I usually play two nights, and once with a drummer. So if you do some quick math, $150 x 2 = $300 + $100 = $400 per week, for 3, 4-hour shows. $400 divided by 12 hours total is $33.33 / per hour. Now, I do have weeks where I receive $200 personally for each of 2 solo shows,  plus one night with a drummer, which pays me $100. So for that week, my total was $500. That puts me at about $42/hr.  And all of this does not include tips--which usually amount to anywhere between $10 and $50 a night, sometimes more! And this is just ME--I have a friend in Key West that plays 2 shows a day, 7 days a week.
