I am a graduate of Harvard University. Before I went to law school, I remember racking my brain for hours trying to decide if I should attend law school, business school, or various other graduate programs. For awhile I even wondered if it made sense to go to graduate school at all. As a typical young college student with little life experience, it was so hard to know if I would enjoy law school, if I would even want to practice law, or if I might be better suited to another graduate school or career path. I was just 23 years old, yet I was about to make a huge decision with life-changing consequences! Left to my own devices, I was forced to sift and sort through the pros and cons of law school, which caused me to make some good decisions as well as some bad ones. But you do not have to go through this difficult process yourself! I have done it, and I am ready to share with you my field-tested system for helping you know if law school is a good fit for you, or if you might be better off choosing a different path. As I struggled with the law school question, I could never find an objective source to help me ask the right questions. In fact, I was not even sure what the right questions were! While researching the law school decision, almost all the resources I found were focused on helping me get accepted to law school, perform well on the LSAT, or succeed in law school. But I could not find a single thing that would help me decide if I should go to law school in the first place! Almost as bad, I was shocked to discover that nearly every published resource about law school focused almost entirely on the positive benefits of law school and a legal career. Not one of them helped me to objectively examine the pros and the cons of going to law school and practicing law. This did not sit right with me because I knew, like everybody knows, that a high number of law students and practicing lawyers are not happy with their work. I wanted to know why they were not happy, and how, if it all, this should impact my decision.Unfortunately, because there were so few objective resources available to answer these questions, I was forced to learn by trial and error. I spent countless hours reading books, asking questions of current and former law students, reading legal news, counseling with my prelaw advisor, talking with lawyers, and volunteering at a law firm. One of the most important lessons I learned is this: indeed you CAN know if law school is right for you BEFORE you commit your valuable money and time to it! I have created an easy-to-read, 105 page book that shares all the tips and tricks I learned during my journey to law school.
